[f2py] scipy_distutils missing?

Hi,

I intend to give f2py a try and just downloaded and (successfully?) installed 
it. Well, f2py complains that scipy_distutils is missing. Having scipy 
installed, I still have no scipy_distutils module I could import. And I don't 
know where to find it - the f2py FAQ web page starts to solve this problem 
with telling me that I should cd into cvs/f2py2e/ and run make 
scipy_distutils - I don't have any of these.

Could somebody please point me where to get scipy_distutils? (Apparently I'm 
too dumb to find the solution on my own; any pointer for me is appreciated.) 
I'm running SuSE 10.0 with python 2.4.1 for it matters - and can't update 
anytime soon.
